Kaufman on Passage of Healthcare Reconciliation

March 25, 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ted Kaufman (D-Del.) released the following statement today after the Senate voted, 56 to 43, to pass the healthcare reform reconciliation package:

“The improvements today will make a good bill even better. Healthcare reconciliation applies even more common sense solutions to healthcare reform. The package closes the Medicare prescription drug ‘donut hole’, which currently affects up to 140,000 seniors in Delaware. Funding for community health centers will increase from $8.5 billion to $11 billion, which will benefit facilities and programs in Delaware’s low-income and rural areas. It also increases federal funds for responsible states like Delaware to cover the costs of expanded Medicaid coverage for childless adults. These improvements combined with the comprehensive health reform bill, will help fix our desperately broken healthcare system.”
