Kaufman Travels to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ted Kaufman (D-Del.) will be traveling to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan this congressional recess to assess security, military, and political developments in these regions. Kaufman will travel with Senators Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and Kay Hagan (D-N.C.). Reed, a West Point graduate and former Army Ranger, will lead the Congressional Delegation. All three Senators are members of the Armed Services Committee. Kaufman is also a member of the Foreign Relations Committee.

During the trip, the Senators will meet with high-ranking foreign leaders, diplomats, and American military commanders, civilian personnel, as well as soldiers from Delaware, Rhode Island, and North Carolina who are currently serving overseas.

This will be Kaufman’s third trip to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. This will be Reed’s fifteenth trip to Iraq, ninth to Afghanistan, and seventh to Pakistan. It will be Hagan’s second trip to Afghanistan and Pakistan and first to Iraq.
