Ted Announces $6.6 Million in Recovery Funding to Support Delaware Law Enforcement

Ted visited the New Castle County Police Headquarters earlier this week to announce $6.6 million in funding for the Criminal Justice Council (CJC). This federal grant, made possible by the economic recovery package, will create at least 48 law enforcement and public safety jobs across the state, as well as fund innovative new projects and much-needed equipment upgrades. Ted was joined by Sen. Tom Carper, Gov. Jack Markell and several police chiefs from around the state at the event.

Supreme Court Nominee Sonia Sotomayor Visits Ted in Washington

As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Ted had the chance to sit down this week with Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama’s nominee to the United States Supreme Court. Following his meeting, Ted said Judge Sotomayor “is as impressive in person as she is on her resume. But she understands that upholding the Constitution requires more than just intelligence – it requires an appreciation of how one’s decisions affect ordinary Americans.”

Visit to Israel, Syria and Turkey Provides First-Hand Perspective on Regional Security

On his recent 6-day trip, Ted met with foreign government and military officials, political leaders, and civil society representatives to discuss regional security issues, and areas of mutual interest and cooperation. Ted’s congressional delegation is one of the few to travel to Syria since President Obama began his policy of engagement with the country – lending a unique perspective on prospects for larger peace in the region.
